Finally, Maika Monroe will get to do the killing for a change! Ever since her breakthrough double-dip in 2014 of "The Guest" and "It Follows," Monroe has been establishing herself in the world of horror flicks and thrillers. Recently she was seen in "Longlegs" getting freaked out by Nicolas Cage. Now, though, she has been cast in "Victorian Psycho," and she will get to be said psycho.
"Victorian Psycho" was adapted to the screen by the novel's author Virginia Feito. The period piece, set in 1958, focuses on a governess who gets a job at a remote manor, but little does anybody know, the governess is a murderous psychopath. She's kind of Mary Poppins meets Patrick Bateman.
Monroe will star alongside Thomasin McKenzie and the film will be directed by Zachary Wigon. Wigon most-recently directed the thriller "Sanctuary," which co-starred Margaret Qualley. Qualley was originally going to play the governess, but that role will now go to Monroe.
Clearly she knows the genre, and the plot of "Victorian Psycho" has potential. Let's see how it all shakes out. In the meantime, might as well watch "The Guest" and "It Follows" again!
