Lionsgate has revealed three more cast members of The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping: Lili Taylor as Mags Flanagan, Ben Wang as Wyatt Callow, and Ralph Fiennes as President Snow. This comes on the heels of the news that Maya Hawke and Kelvin Harrison Jr. will take on the roles of Wiress and Beetee.
THE HUNGER GAMES: SUNRISE ON THE REAPING will revisit the world of Panem 24 years before the events of The Hunger Games, starting on the morning of the reaping of the 50th Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell.
"We wanted to honor Donald Sutherland by having one of this generation’s greatest actors play President Snow 24 years before Katniss Everdeen entered the arena," producer Nina Jacobson said. "Working with Ralph has been on my bucket list since he traumatized me for life in Schindler’s List. It’s genuinely a thrill to welcome him to the Hunger Games."
The rest of the announced cast so far includes Joseph Zada as Haymitch Abernathy, Whitney Peak as Lenore Dove Baird, McKenna Grace as Maysilee Donner, and Jesse Plemons as Plutarch Heavensbee.
Sutherland originally played President Snow in The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, Mockingjay - Part 1, and Mockingjay - Part 2. Tom Blyth then played a younger version of the character in 2023's The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Lynn Cohen portrayed Mags Flanagan in Catching Fire.
More than 1.5 million copies of Suzanne Collins' most recent prequel were sold in the first week. Francis Lawrence is back to direct and produce the adaptation, while The Hunger Games co-writer, Billy Ray, will write the screenplay. Additionally, Brad Simpson serves as a producer.
The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping hits theaters on November 20, 2026.
