Michael Keaton isn’t a fan of Sony Pictures’ storytelling.

The actor, who plays the villainous Vulture in Marvel’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, cameoed at the end of Sony’s Morbius.

Two years on from Morbius, however, that cameo doesn’t seem like it’s going anywhere. Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Keaton admits he has “No. No idea. None. Zero,” on how his character fits into Sony’s ongoing Spider-Verse (SSU).

“Even they couldn’t quite explain it,” Keaton said. “He said, ‘Look, let me just kind of tell you.’ And I go, ‘OK, I really don’t quite know what you’re talking about or even who some of these people are.’”

With Marvel and Sony operating in different, but also occasionally connected, cinematic superhero universes, fans have never been more confused. And now it seems even the actors are none the wiser.

That’s not to say Keaton won’t eventually reprise his role in the SSU. With both Venom 3 and Kraven The Hunter coming later this year, all of Spider-Man’s nemesis are getting screen time. Here's the Venom 3 new release date announced by Sony.

So Keaton might be back in his Vulture costume soon - that’s if he doesn’t decide to reprise his role as Batman after his brief stint at the 2024 Oscars scowling at Penguin and Mr Freeze.
