Candace Cameron Bure remembers 'Full House' dad Bob Saget: 'This hurts like nothing I’ve ever felt before'

Bob Saget meant just as much if not more to Candace Cameron Bure than Danny Tanner meant to D.J. Tanner.

Bure is continuing to mourn the loss of Saget, who died unexpectedly Sunday (Jan. 9), as he was found unresponsive in his Ritz-Carlton hotel room in Orlando, Fla., where he had just begun his stand-up comedy "I Don't Do Negative" tour.

The 45-year-old actress, author, producer and television personality posted a sweet throwback photo to Instagram with an even sweeter caption to match:

"Oh, Bob. Why’d you have to leave us so soon?" Bure wrote. "We are all family, but you were the glue. The sticky, messy, squishy, sweet, lovable glue. My childhood is wrapped up in you, my formative teenaged years and the rest of adulthood. You taught me to feel deeply at such a young age. You were never afraid or ashamed to share your emotions, to cry, to love, to laugh and say it out loud. We’ve always been so deeply connected since the day we met when I was 10 years old. You weren’t just like a father, but one of my closest friends in life. This hurts like nothing I’ve ever felt before. I love you, I love you, I love you."

"You knew that. I knew that," she continued. "But I have to say it again. I want one more hug. I want one more text that says, 'oh, btw, it’s me Bob' after a long rant. I want one more laugh. I want to roll my eyes at you one more time. I want you to tell me to watch something but then tell me maybe I shouldn’t because of my faith. You were always so protective of me, and cared about everything. And everybody. You were the best. You were… Bob. There will never be another like you. I wish you could see the outpouring of love you have. You’ve certainly left a beautiful legacy in kindness, compassion, loyalty, generosity, and love. I’m not saying goodbye because you’ll never leave my heart. Even with this gigantic tear in it."

Bure and Saget costarred on Full House from 1987 to 1995—Danny was the beloved TV dad to Bure's D.J., as well as Jodie Sweetin's Stephanie and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's Michelle—and again on Netflix's revival series Fuller House from 2016-20.

In real life, Saget was a dad to daughters Aubrey, 34, Lara, 32, and Jennifer, 29. He shared them with his ex-wife, Sherri Kramer, to whom he was married from 1982 to '97. The former America's Funniest Home Videos host married Kelly Rizzo in October 2018 and remained with her until his death.

An autopsy performed Monday revealed "no evidence of drug use or foul play." An official cause of death has not yet been identified.
