Casting announcements for HBO's "Harry Potter" show have been coming for a while, including the likes of John Lithgow. However, notably absent from the announcements have been the crux of the show, namely Ron, Hermoine, and, most importantly, Harry. Well, the time has come. The HBO show has its leading kids.
The child actors were introduced with a photo that has a real "press photo for an indie-folk band" vibe. Alastair Stout, whose name is very Wizarding World as is, has been cast as Ron. Arabella Stanton is Hermoine. Then, grabbing that titular role, there's Dominic McLaughlin as Harry.
In terms of the casting...we have no clue. Neither do you. The show literally auditioned over 30,000 actors in an open casting call because they weren't looking for established child actors. It worked for the movies. You didn't know who Daniel Radcliffe was. Now he's played Weird Al!
This is news because it's the "Harry Potter" show on HBO and these kids are now going to be thrust into some real limelight. Hopefully their stoked. They'll get to hang out with John Lithgow now, at least.
