"Big Mouth," the raunchy animated show about puberty from Netflix, has dropped its eighth, and final, season. The show, co-created by and co-starring Nick Kroll, is atypical for an animated show as the characters actually grew up. Bart Simpson has been 10 for going on four decades, but the kids of "Big Mouth" were not left to experience such a fate. The show had some notable voice actors, including some cameos. It tends to be easier to get people to agree to pop in for an animated show, since they just have to go somewhere and record their voice. "The Simpsons" got three Beatles!
In parsing-the-end-of-an-era of it all, Kroll and his co-creator Andrew Goldberg discussed "Big Mouth" with the media, including pointing out a couple of voices they weren't able to get. Big swings both, but no dice either time. Kroll explained they wanted Howard Stern to do a voice, calling him "the best" and "the king." The show also wanted Lady Gaga to no avail, with Kroll quipping, "turns out she’s busy."
Goldberg echoed that Gaga was busy, but added more detail related to Stern, saying, "We really, really wanted Howard Stern to do the show; he doesn’t do anything and we were no exception." You know who Lady Gaga did have time for, though?
All things considered, no show, even animated shows, bats 1.000 when it comes to getting guest stars. "Big Mouth" may not have gotten Stern or Gaga to stop by over its eight seasons, but that didn't stand in the way of it finding success.
