Billy Joel reveals brain disorder, cancels all concerts

Unfortunately, the Piano Man won't be singing us a song anytime soon. Like many older musicians these days, Billy Joel has not abated when it comes to touring and performing. However, earlier this year he postponed several concert dates. Now, alas, those dates have all been canceled, as Joel is dealing with a serious medical issue.

As the press release by way of Instagram post notes, Joel has been diagnosed with a brain disorder called normal pressure hydrocephalus. It's rare enough, and Joel is famous enough, networks were breaking out the big guns to explicate.

The long and the short of it, though, is that performing concerts has worsened Joel's health, and one assumes traveling probably isn't easy either. At least he's able to undergo physical therapy and the use of the phrase "during the recovery period" is encouraging. The phrase "brain disorder" is never chill, but it would appear that Joel can recover from this and return to performing.
