Both teams are coming off their bye during Week 6. Well-rested on both sides, Saturday could be considered must-win for both sides.

Last season, LSU started the season 6-1 before losing three-straight. That ultimately kept them out of the College Football Playoff picture last season, so the Tigers aren’t interested in letting wins pile up. They began the season 4-0 before Week 5’s 24-19 loss to Ole Miss on the road.

For the Gamecocks, they started SEC play 0-2 after losses to both Vanderbilt at home and Missouri on the road. South Carolina got back in the win column with a 35-13 win over Kentucky before its bye week.

Both teams have a tough schedule ahead, so earning a victory on Saturday will be a massive plus for either squad. A loss, meanwhile, could spell disaster for either teams and the outlook of their season.

Last season, both teams put on a thriller that went in favor of the Tigers, 36-33. LSU had to score two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to overcome to Gamecocks in Columbia.
