The BC Lions, like every other team in the CFL, have made quite a few roster moves over the past few months. If one thing is certain, BC will not look like it did last season.
The Lions have had a lot of consistency on the offensive line for the past few seasons, and quarterbacks Vernon Adams Jr. and Nathan Rourke benefited quite well from that, Adams more so than Rourke.
However, BC’s offensive line may be getting slightly worse this off-season. According to 3 Down Nation, the Lions have released former Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman nominee Kent Perkins.
Perkins has been with the club since the 2021 season and started 67 games at the right tackle position. He also saw time with the XFL’s St. Louis Battlehawks and the Cincinnati Bengals before heading north of the border.
This all comes after he helped lead the Texas Longhorns to the 2013 Alamo Bowl. Perkins played four years in Austin. He started 34 games and was named second team All-Big 12 as a senior in 2016.
It’s unclear where the former University of Texas standout could sign, but some early front runners are the Saskatchewan Roughriders, who have struggled with injuries in the past few seasons on the offensive line, and the Toronto Argonauts, who have looked to improve their offensive line around quarterback Chad Kelly.
The BC Lions will open their 2025 season with a matchup against the Edmonton Elks on June 7. The Lions will announce their popular Kick-off Concert headliner very soon.
