The Saskatchewan Roughriders have made a few moves this offseason to improve their team after a tough loss in the West Division Final to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 2024.
After recently bringing in former Super Bowl winner and Grey Cup champion Shane Ray for extra hands on the defensive line, the Roughriders have decided to lock up last year's Most Outstanding Defensive Player for the foreseeable future.
According to many sources, the Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed defensive back Rolan Milligan Jr. to a two-year contract extension to keep him with the team through the 2026 season.
Last season, Milligan recorded 71 defensive tackles, 20 special teams tackles (third in the league) and a league-leading eight interceptions through 16 games.
Milligan has spent the last 4 seasons in the CFL with the Roughriders, accumulating 164 tackles, two sacks, and 11 interceptions through 38 games.
The 30-year-old defensive back joined the league in 2021 after a short stint in the NFL, where Dallas signed him after going undrafted in the 2016 NFL Draft before being released without seeing any playing time. He would also see a brief stint in Detroit in 2017 and Indianapolis in 2019, totaling 15 tackles through 11 games.
Milligan will look to make an even more significant impact this CFL season. The Riders will begin their season at home against the Ottawa Redblacks on June 7.
