The Toronto Argonauts continue to shore up talent, retaining two players from last year’s squad that went 16-2. They announced Thursday that they had signed wide receiver Tommy Nield and defensive back Jamie Harry. Nield was originally taken by Toronto back in the 2021 CFL Draft in the fourth round. He appeared in eight games his rookie season, recording no catches, but he finished 2022 with 10 catches for 191 yards and one touchdown in 13 games after he saw an increase in playing time. While he played fewer games in 2023, Nield came up career highs in receptions (32) and yards (384) in nine contests. He did appear in the team’s East Final loss to the Montreal Alouettes but only received one target. Harry returned to the team last year after being drafted by the team in 2019 as the 38th overall pick, ultimately moving on to BC after failing to make the team.
