A dozen games have been decided so far in Omaha. Now, with a pair of single wins in the semifinals to sweep their portions of the bracket, the final series is set and, with it, the odds are in for the last games in the Men’s College World Series between No. 6 LSU and No. 13 Coastal Carolina.
Per the lines at FanDuel, LSU is the favorite for the three-game series at (-192). Coastal Carolina has their chance, though, as the underdog at (+154). That’s reflected in the odds for Game 1 as well with the Tigers at (-180) on the moneyline and the Chanticleers at (+140).
Coming into the MCWS, the Tigers and Chanticleers were two of the favorites to win it all. Only Arkansas (+195) had better odds than them in the top-three with LSU (+240) and Coastal Carolina (+600) in second and third respectively per FanDuel. Now, one of them will leave Omaha as national champions.
LSU earned their way to the title series with a trio of wins over No. 3 Arkansas twice and No. 15 UCLA. They won fairly comfortably in their first two games before the Tigers walked off the Razorbacks in the bottom of the ninth on Wednesday in order to advance. The Tigers will now be playing for their eighth national title and second in three seasons, as well as what would be a sixth straight championship overall in baseball from a program out of the Southeastern Conference since 2019.
Coastal Carolina in then the hottest team in collegiate baseball coming in having won 26 straight, having not lost in nearly two months now since back in April, including their three so far over Arizona, No. 8 Oregon State, and Louisville. Each of the margins have gotten bigger over those three games in reaching the final series. The Chanticleers could now win their second national title as one of the last non-SEC programs to win it all when they did so back in 2016.
