Ole Miss returned to the College World Series in 2026. While things didn’t go great in Omaha, it was nonetheless a fantastic season for a baseball program that got back on track. And heading into 2027, there will be many familiar faces returning.
The elder statesman returned for 2027, as pitcher Hunter Elliott is back.
Ole Miss lost significant talent to the pros, as Cade Townsend and Taylor Rabe were first-round picks and among the many from last year’s pitching staff to go pro. But Elliott, the workhorse who led the Rebels in innings pitched (85) and strikeouts (111), is still on the staff.
It’s going to be a different look for the pitching staff, although there are other returnees aside from Elliott. Junior JP Robertson, a reliever in 2026 who was able to get to the upper-90s, struck out 49 over 37 innings for the Rebels last year.
Owen Kelly, Terry Hayes Jr., Jake Reigert, Owen Hancock, and finesse pitcher Walker Hooks are also back. Hooks, who doesn’t throw all that hard, struck out 63 batters to finish fifth on the 2026 Ole Miss team.
As for the offense, Tristan Bissetta is gone but Judd Utermark is back. Utermark finished with 22 home runs last year, one behind Bissetta for the team lead. And he’ll be joined by Will Furniss, who hit nine home runs and posted an on-base percentage above .400. Both are fifth-year players.
Owen Paino saw regular playing time and is also back in that Rebels infield, which also has Dom Decker back for his senior season.
Decker hit 10 home runs in his junior season, one that saw him return to Omaha after going there in 2025 with Murray State.
Those two will three will be joined by Hayden Federico, another one of Ole Miss’ 2026 regulars.
Kelven Perera, Luke Romine, and Cannon Goldin were all freshmen who didn’t see much playing time. But the three are also back for this upcoming campaign.
Some new transfers are in Oxford, including former LSU pitcher Mavrick Rizy.
Rizy pitched with Brewster this past summer, where he walked 12 over 12 but also punched out 18. His Whiff% was a shade above in the Cape. Mid-90s fastball, plus a slider, were his two primary pitches with the Tigers.
He’s one of several new pitchers. Left-hander Charlie Foster comes over from archrival Mississippi State. Foster, who swung between starting and relieving, struck out 37 over 36.1 IP with the Bulldogs.
Charlie Wilcox threw 14 innings as a freshman last year for Georgia Tech. Wilcox struck out 13 and walked nine, working primarily as a reliever on a deep Yellow Jackets club.
Former Northeastern reliever Andrew Rogovic was a strikeout machine for the Huskies, as he finished second on the 2026 team in strikeouts (60) over 39.2 IP. For a pitcher from the CAA, Rogovic threw hard; mid-90s fastball with some carry and cut, plus a cutter and slider.
Another new transfer is former Indiana outfielder Caleb Koskie, the son of former Minnesota Twin Corey Koskie. Caleb was a force for the Hoosiers in 2026, as he slashed .372/.461/.568 with six home runs and 17 extra-base hits with Indiana last year.
The Rebels also picked up some catching help, notable given that Austin Fawley is now a catcher in the Braves’ organization. Sophomore Brady Dallimore comes over from TCU, where he was one of two regular catchers in 2026. Dallimore hit eight home runs and 17 extra-base hits in 33 contests with the Horned Frogs.
One more note on Dallimore: he had a Whiff% of over 32% in the Cape this summer, as did his new teammate Owen Paino.
Former Houston outfielder Blake Fields walked more than he struck out last season before he moved his way to Mississippi. Fields posted a .389 on-base percentage for the Cougars in 2026.
Ole Miss’ roster also includes eight freshmen, one of whom is infielder Christian Doty. Very fast runner.
