Portland Pilots pitcher throws first perfect game in program history

Midweek college baseball games always give the most fascinating stories. On any regular day, the protest from the Stetson Hatters in their game against the Florida Gators would've been the story of the night, but it was not just any regular day.

University of Portland pitcher Ryan Rembisz threw the first perfect game of the college baseball season in his teams 8-0 win over Seattle University.

A perfect game with 12 strikeouts is already an incredible feat, but there was another aspect of the perfect game that made it even more incredible.

Rembisz finished the game with just 86 pitches. That is an average of less than 10 pitches per inning, just a remarkable feat for anyone, especially a pitcher throwing a perfect game.

Rembisz is a senior from Portland, Oregon and has spent all four years of his college career at the University of Portland. He has appeared in 51 games and has a career ERA of 3.73 after Tuesday's perfect game.

It is certainly a game that Rembisz will remember for the rest of his life, and it may help his team get out of the 3-5 funk they are in to begin the 2025 season.
