The Duke Blue Devils put together a standout season under head coach Jon Scheyer, dominating the ACC and making an impressive run in the NCAA Tournament. Although their journey ended in heartbreak with a dramatic late-game collapse against the Houston Cougars in the Final Four, Duke's performance throughout the season was nothing short of impressive.
While they ultimately fell short of capturing a national championship, the Blue Devils achieved plenty—including showcasing the nation's top player in freshman sensation Cooper Flagg.
Though Flagg has likely played his final game at Duke, with the projected No. 1 overall pick expected to declare for the NBA draft, he made history during his lone college season. He became just the fourth player ever to win both ACC Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year in the same season, while also collecting multiple National Player of the Year honors from a variety of outlets.
On Thursday, the ACC highlighted another accolade to Flagg’s remarkable résumé, announcing that he is the first player in Duke history to lead the team in points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks in a single season.

Flagg finished his freshman season averaging 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.4 blocks per game, while shooting an efficient 48.1% from the field, 38.5% from three-point range, and 84.0% from the free-throw line.
In Duke’s Final Four matchup against Houston, Flagg led all scorers with 27 points but came up short on a potential game-winner in the final seconds. Still, despite the heartbreaking loss, Flagg expressed pride in the way his team performed throughout the season.
"It was an incredible season," Flagg said after the Houston loss. "Incredible people, incredible relationships that I'm going to have for the rest of my life. Didn't end the way we wanted it to but still an incredible year."
