In a battle between No. 1 seeds and SEC teams in the 2025 NCAA Tournament on Saturday night, it was Todd Golden’s Florida Gators who came away with the ticket to the national championship game.

That was after the Gators defeated the Auburn Tigers at Alamodome in San Antonio to the tune of a 79-73 score.

Florida’s victory over the Tigers brought back a lot of memories for the school’s supporters, including one of the members of the last Gators team to win it all in the Big Dance.

Following Florida’s successful takedown of the Tigers, Boston Celtics center and former Gators star Al Horford, who helped the program win national titles in 2006 and 2007, hopped on social media to show his support for his alma mater.

“One more! ,” the now 38-year-old Horford shared.

Florida edged the Tigers on the strength of a memorable performance by Walter Clayton Jr. The senior guard torched Auburn for 34 points on 11-for-18 shooting from the field with five 3-pointers to go along with four rebounds and two assists in 35 minutes.

It would be incredibly sweet for Horford if the Gators win the national championship and the Boston Celtics successfully defended their NBA crown in the 2024-25 campaign.

The Gators will face the winner of the other Final Four game between No. 1 seeds Duke Blue Devils and Houston Cougars in the NCAA Tournament title game on Apr. 7, still at Alamodome.
