Arizona Launches 2026 Class With Promising 4-Star Forward

The Arizona Wildcats are off to a promising start to the 2025-26 season. Koa Peat and Brayden Burries headlined an elite 2025 class that ranked #2 in the country, and they have lived up to expectations so far. Amidst a promising start to this season, Arizona received great news on the recruiting front. Four-star Cameron Holmes announced his commitment to the Wildcats. Holmes is now the first commit for Tommy Lloyd in the 2026 recruiting class.

Holmes Is the First Commit to Tommy Lloyd’s 2026 Class

Cameron Holmes is entering his senior season at Millennium High School in Goodyear, Arizona. Cameron Holmes is the younger brother of DaRon Holmes II, who previously played at Millennium and currently plays for the Denver Nuggets. Holmes drew significant interest from schools such as Gonzaga and Dayton, the alma mater of his brother. Ultimately, Holmes decided to stay in-state and should become a crucial piece for the Wildcats.

Holmes is currently ranked as the 29th best recruit for the 2026 class. The 2026 class is just beginning to take shape throughout college basketball, but Tommy Lloyd has already landed an elite recruit. Lloyd’s 2025 class is the best-ranked class he has ever had at Arizona, and it appears he is not done building momentum. Listed at 6’6″ and 185 pounds, Holmes already has promising upside as a two-way player.

The Four-Star Should Give Arizona Elite Two-Way Value

Cameron Holmes made a name for himself playing for Arizona’s Team Unity on the EYBL circuit. Holmes averaged 11.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 3.6 assists on the circuit this year. He was also listed as a Day 4 Peach Jam standout this past summer. Holmes already looks well-rounded and prepared to handle the rigors of college basketball. The 2026 class should also be an elite class, but Holmes could end up being one of the standout players under Lloyd’s development.

Scouts have been raving about Holmes, especially when it comes to his versatility and decision-making. Adam Finkelstein mentioned how Holmes is reliable as a decision maker even though he is not much of a creator yet. However, Holmes is a skilled cutter who is constantly able to get to the rim. Finkelstein also highlighted the improvements he has made as a shooter. Holmes is also already a promising defensive playmaker and rebounder. Holmes improving as a creator off the dribble this upcoming season should allow him to enter college with a chance to earn immediate rotation minutes.

The Verdict

After spending two decades as an assistant coach with Gonzaga, Tommy Lloyd took the Arizona job in 2021, and so far it has gone well for the Wildcats. Currently, Lloyd has a 114-33 head coaching record and has led the Wildcats to the NCAA tournament every season so far. The Wildcats have significant momentum in recruiting right now, and it does not appear to be slowing down. The 2025 class is already off to a brilliant start, but Cameron Holmes could be the beginning of two straight elite recruiting classes for Tommy Lloyd.
