Not a quote you want to hear this far into the season.

North Carolina just suffered its second loss in three games to Clemson at home. It was just the Tigers second win in Chapel Hill, as they are now 2-60 all-time. The Tar Heels came out flat, and although they fought back, it wasn’t enough. After the game, fifth-year senior Armando Bacot gave a quote that could leave fans a bit worried.

The Quote

After the game, News and Observer columnist Luke DeCock posted what he heard from Bacot on X: “We’re a great team, but we’re not talented enough to turn it on and off whenever we want to.”

DeCock also posted tidbits of other things said, like:

They had a bad practice on Monday that was stopped halfway through.

The shootaround before the game was not good.

Players showed up late for warmups on Tuesday.

Focus In Question?

Now over halfway into the season, preparation is key. Winning an ACC game is tough, but not being prepared for a team like Clemson, who is doing everything it can to make the tournament, will bite you every time. The Tigers have been on the bubble for a month and need every win they can get. Beating a top-10 UNC squad boosts their resume. The Tar Heels looked like a team coasting along after a big rivalry win.

Will the Tar Heels come out ready against Miami on Saturday?
