Bruce Pearl and the Auburn Tigers came just one win shy of competing for an NCAA Tournament title, falling 79–73 in a hard-fought battle against conference rival Florida.
The Tigers wrapped up an impressive season with a 32–6 record. Far from a disappointment, Auburn captured the SEC regular-season title and made a deep NCAA Tournament run, eliminating Alabama State, Creighton, Michigan, and Michigan State along the way.
Now, Auburn is looking to retool and make another push—not just for the Final Four, but for a national championship. The news Pearl and the Tigers received on Tuesday marks a significant step in that direction.
Joe Tipton of On3 reported that Mississippi State transfer forward KeShawn Murphy has committed to Auburn.
"The 6-10 junior from Birmingham averaged 11.7 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per game this season."
Murphy was a leader on the Bulldogs team that went into the NCAA Tournament as the No. 8 seed. The 6-foot-10 forward played his high school basketball in Birmingham, Alabama, at Ramsey High School. He was a 3-star athlete out of high school.
There has been some positive news for Auburn this offseason. AD Scott, Chad Baker-Mazara, and Chaney Johnson all appear set to return for their final seasons.
Although Tahaad Pettiford declared for the NBA Draft, he maintained his college eligibility.
