Bronny James’ timeline for potential return to court for USC revealed

Bronny James suffered a cardiac arrest during a July 24 practice with the USC Trojans and was rushed to the ICU of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Following the terrifying news, it appears there have been all positive updates since that point.

According to CBS News, medical evaluations were done by Cedars-Sinai, the Mayo Clinic and the Morristown Medical Center. The result was a belief from doctors that the "probable cause" of the cardiac arrest was an "anatomically and functionally significant congenital heart defect which can and will be treated," according family spokesperson in a statement, which CBS detailed.

Bronny hasn't been on the court with USC since that practice, but his father and Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James offered up some big news on Monday night.

Following the team's 2023-24 season opener, James revealed that Bronny will get checked at the end of this month and if he's cleared, will practice with the intention to return this season, according to ESPN's Dave McMenamin.

The potential return to basketball is obviously far less important than the fact that James' heart defect is treatable. But there'll certainly be no shortage of people excited to see James potentially return to the court whenever he does, specifically due to the fact that it'd mean he has a clean bill of health.
