Egor Demin won't return to BYU for another season.
The Cougars star guard announced he'll enter the 2025 NBA Draft on Tuesday. Demin ends weeks of speculation on his future as a projected lottery pick. He reportedly turned down a lucrative NIL deal to exit Provo.
BYU ended the season with a loss to Alabama in the Sweet 16. Despite getting bounced, the Cougars have a bright future with the addition of five-star AJ Dybantsa, along with returning talents Keba Keita and Richie Saunders. Kevin Young and his staff will need to replace Demin's production from last year. He averaged 10.6 points, 3.9 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game, while shooting 41.2% from the field and 27.3% from beyond the arc.
Demin found himself in the middle of a crossroads after the tournament run. Several mock drafts have Demin as a top ten pick in June's NBA Draft. A major accomplishment for anyone, especially a first-year player who isn't native to this country. His heart was torn between being in the league right now and waiting a year with no sense of urgency. It appears he'll test the NBA waters.

Demin’s family prepared him for the opportunity of playing in the NBA and waiting a year to be at this point. Being at BYU was no mistake and part of the plan. With Kevin Young coming in from the Phoenix Suns, the stage for Demin's future as he developed his game further. He's in one of the best positions to thrive at the next level.
BYU's Keba Keita to return for final season
With his decision being announced, Demin has time to weigh his options as he works out for potential NBA suitors. The entry deadline for the 2025 NBA draft is April 26. However, he can drop out and return to BYU by June 15th, ten days before the start of the draft.
