BYU star center Keba Keita announced he's returning for another year in Provo. The Utah transfer was a major contributor to the Cougars Sweet 16 run last season.
"Never said I was out so let's run it back Cougar Nation," Keita wrote on social media.
Keita averaged 7.4 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game. One of the most vocal leaders for BYU down the stretch. His best game came in the Big 12 Championship against Houston with 14 points, 12 rebounds and two blocks. One of the best at his positions with 14 multi-block games this past season.
For Kevin Young and his staff, Keita officially returning is a great sign for possibly bringing back Richie Saunders and Egor Demin. The holdover trio along with incoming five-star AJ Dybansta, would be one of the best tandems in the nation. It also ups the recruiting game for the Cougars, who will likely get at least two high quality role players in the portal.
Young's NBA-style approach with deep NIL pockets could put BYU as a national contender next year. Dybansta has already said 2025-26 will be his only season before escaping for the NBA. The time for a quick-hitting title run depends on how the rest of the pieces fall around the generational talent.
