The UCLA Bruins' seven-game winning streak came to an end on Tuesday at the hands of the Illinois Fighting Illinis. After a quiet first half, the Bruins turned it up in the second to win the half but not the game. While junior forward Tyler Bilodeau did his part for UCLA, sophomore forward Eric Dailey Jr has fallen cold.
Dailey and Bilodeau have been the Bruins' premier shooters so far this season, both averaging more than 11 points per game. However, after Bilodeau's cold streak, he must have given it to Dailey.
On the Bruins win streak, Dailey was averaging 13 points a game, including two games in which he scored more than 20 points. In his last three games, he has averaged just 7 points. Against the Fighting Illini, Dailey dropped 5 points, with three assists and a steal.
Dailey has been UCLA's breakthrough player this season, giving Coach Mick Cronin options to rest Bilodeau while remaining confident when Dailey is on the court. Overall, from his freshman season to his sophomore, Dailey has improved in his shooting since joining the Bruins.
The sophomore has shot 33.3% inside the paint over the three games, when on the season overall, he has a 52.6% success rate. While the cold streak had not directly impacted the Bruins' season, it could if Dailey can't figure out his shooting ways.
UCLA has a tough schedule remaining, including games against the Indiana Hoosiers, Ohio State Buckeyes and Purdue Boilermakers before its rematch with its crosstown rivals, the USC Trojans. While the USC game is more than two weeks away, the Bruins will need everyone to play at the top of their game as they continue to climb the Big Ten standings.
The Bruins' loss pushes them 2.5 games back from the top of the standings. If Dailey can brush off his cold streak by the end of the week, he and the rest of the Bruins squad could have the chance to get back into the conversation of a Big Ten title, a feat that would serve as a remarkable way to cap off their first season in the conference.
Dailey has another chance to shake off the cobwebs when UCLA travels to take on Indiana.

Who Purdue Basketball Has Offered in the 2026 Recruiting Class
There are going to be plenty of roster spots to fill for Purdue's basketball team following the 2025-26 season. Heading into the upcoming season, the Boilermakers have six seniors on the roster, headlined by the trio of Braden Smith, Fletcher Loyer, and Trey Kaufman-Renn. Additionally, forward Sam King is entering his senior season and transfer additions Oscar Cluff and Liam Murphy both only have one year of eligibilty remaining. The Boilermakers will have to add quite a bit to the roster next year, whether it comes via high school recruiting or the transfer portal. Right now, Purdue has just one player committed in the 2026 class, 6-foot-1 combo guard Luke Ertel. The Indiana native ranks as the No. 53 player in the cycle, per 247Sports. The Boilermakers still have plenty of offers on the table, too. Most of those prospects in the 2026 class remain with a Purdue offer uncommitted at this time, though four-star forward Sheek Peterson did verbally pledge to Marquette. Emma Jacob Went Missing in Platteville, Wisconsin. Here's What's Known
Emma Jacob was a 22-year-old woman who went missing in Platteville, WI. Details are scant about her disappearance, but tragic news was delivered by a woman on Facebook, who says she is Jacob's sister. And Lafayette County sheriff's officials confirmed to Men's Journal that Jacob is deceased. On July 22, Sydney Wiltsie wrote on Facebook, "My little sister Emma Jacob has been missing since around 9:30 this morning. Her last pinged location was near the mound, or the 'big M' in Platteville, WI. Her car, phone, keys, and purse were all found there. Police are involved and we ask that everyone in the Platteville area keeps an eye out for her and that she is found safe. Please keep her and our family in your prayers. 22 y.o. Female, roughly 5’6”, 120lbs, dark brown curly hair." Then, in an update, she wrote, "Update: She has been found. At this time we ask you please respect our families privacy as we grieve the loss of our daughter, sister, and auntie. Thank you." "My beautiful baby sister and my best friend in the whole world. I love you so much," she wrote on July 23, sharing another photo. That comment thread filled up with people offering their condolences. That hasn't stopped people online from speculating, without evidence, that Jacob's case could be linked to the disappearance of Viterbo college student Eliotte Heinz, who vanished on July 20 after a night in a bar in downtown La Crosse, WI. To be clear, there is no information to tie them together, and they're not even located in the same city. There is no evidence at this point that foul play was even involved in Jacob's death, and searchers are hoping to find Heinz alive. The Lafayette County Sheriff's Department confirmed to Men's Journal that Jacob died, but could not provide additional details on any cause of death, other than saying she was found in "rural Platteville" and that investigators "don't think it's related" to the disappearance of Heinz. Wiltsie limited comments on her post. "I understand everyone wanting to relate this to the other missing girls in Wisconsin but it’s very insensitive to Sydney and her family so maybe take those conversations private and keep this post strictly for information you may have directly related to Emma or prayers for a safe return. I am sure the police are aware of the other cases and working to connect any pieces," one woman wrote on the comment thread. La Crosse and Platteville are more than 100 miles apart, and there is no known link between the two women, with the exception that they are both 22 and from college towns in the Universities of Wisconsin system. Men's Journal contacted Platteville police on July 23 and asked about the Jacob case. Police said that case is being handled by the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Police Department. However, that police department told Men's Journal to contact the UW-Platteville public relations spokeswoman, who has not yet responded to a request for comment.
Raiders GM reveals how they will play safety Jamal Adams
The addition of safety Jamal Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders is a bit surprising given his injury history, but the Raiders brass is keeping their fingers crossed hoping the three-time Pro Bowl safety can stay healthy. In an interview with Raider Nation Radio 920 AM on Wednesday, Raiders general manager John Spytek revealed Adams will "play probably a little closer to the line of scrimmage than a true safety." It is not surprising Spytek would say such a thing since Adams played like a hybrid linebacker for head coach Pete Carroll with the Seattle Seahawks. In Seattle, Adams played 34 games for Carroll, including one game in 2022 due to a quad injury in the season opener against the Denver Broncos. He only played nine games in his final season with Carroll and the Seahawks in 2023 before joining the Tennessee Titans and Detroit Lions last season. The 29-year-old Adams is entering his ninth season after he was drafted with the sixth overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft by the New York Jets. If Adams can stay healthy, it could turn out to be a great thing for the Raiders since they need a playmaker and veteran leadership on the field. Spytek's words seem to indicate Adams will have a role when the season gets underway against the New England Patriots on Sept. 7. It will not be surprising if Adams gets a lot of reps during the preseason to see if he can stay healthy. For the Raiders' sake, they better hope they get the early version of Adams, who had 9.5 sacks in his first season with the Seahawks in 2020 - an NFL record for a defensive back. Spytek and Carroll are banking on Adams to remain healthy for the Raiders and give the team another threat on the defensive side to complement star pass rusher Maxx Crosby.
Steelers' Jalen Ramsey Takes A Bold Shot At His Former Teams
The Pittsburgh Steelers have officially kicked off their training camp, and there’s a lot of excitement surrounding the team. After a busy and eventful offseason up to this point, everyone is eager to see how this newly revamped roster comes together. The Steelers have several players nearing the end of their careers and are determined to change the narrative of recent seasons.
