Carson Cooper saw Andy Katz’s list of the top 10 point guards in the country and couldn’t believe AJ Hoggard was left out.

Disrespect season has started early for Michigan State basketball, namely AJ Hoggard.

The senior is widely considered one of the best at his position in college basketball and arguably the No. 1 point guard in the Big Ten. There are some who believe he’s a top-five point guard nationally (I’m one of those people).

So when Andy Katz revealed his top 10 point guards for the 2023-24 season and Hoggard wasn’t on it, Carson Cooper wasted no time defending his teammate.

You have to love the confidence that oozes from Cooper as he continues to show why he’s a fan favorite. No other players are saying anything about this list on social media, but Cooper wasn’t going to let it slide. You can’t just leave off one of the best point guards in the country and list three other Big Ten guys instead of him.

I get the love that Boo Buie gets since he becomes Steph Curry against Michigan State every single year but Jahmir Young and Ace Baldwin being listed higher is just not correct. I would even argue that Buie doesn’t deserve to be that high because he can’t play MSU every game.

Also, Hoggard absolutely locked Tyler Kolek down in March this past season. He was one of the main reasons Marquette got sent home in the second round so leaving him completely off this list is just wild, especially if Kolek is going to be No. 1.

But, hey, the disrespect is just OK with me. It usually plays into Michigan State’s favor. I guess AJ Hoggard is just going to have to prove for a second straight season that he’s a top-two point guard in the Big Ten and top 5-10 in the nation.
