Jarin Stevenson hit the transfer portal on Wednesday after two seasons with the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Not long after the portal entry, On3's Joe Tipton predicted the frontrunner to land Stevenson. Tipton marked the North Carolina Tar Heels as the school to watch for the transfer forward.
Stevenson is a native of Pittsboro, North Carolina, and went to Seaforth High School.
Alabama made its fifth-straight NCAA Tournament under head coach Nate Oats this season. The Crimson Tide reached the Elite Eight before losing to the Duke Blue Devils 85-65.
It was the second time during Oats' tenure that Alabama has it to the Elite Eight.
Stevenson was a four-star prospect in the 2023 class. He is the No. 17 power forward in the On3 Transfer Portal Industry Rankings.
He played in 37 games for Alabama this season with 22 starts. He averaged 5.4 points, 3.4 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game.
Stevenson joined former Alabama teammates Naas Cunningham and Mouhamed Dioubate in the transfer portal. The Crimson Tide has added shooting guard Jalil Bethea (Miami), small forward Taylor Bol Bowen (Florida State), and center Noah Williamson (Bucknell) from the portal.
The 2024-2025 season was Hubert Davis' fourth year as head coach. The Tar Heels made the NCAA Tournament as a No. 11 seed and beat San Diego State 95-68 in the First Four.
However, North Carolina's March Madness run did not last long after that win. The Tar Heels were knocked out of the NCAA Tournament by the No. 6 seeded Ole Miss Rebels in the First Round 71-64.
North Carolina's transfer portal additions include shooting guard Jonathan Powell (West Virginia) and power forward Henri Veseer (Arizona). The Tar Heels have lost shooting guard Ian Jackson, point guard Elliot Cadeau and power forward Jalen Washington to the portal.
