The newest reality of hosting a college basketball season amid the coronavirus pandemic involves rescheduling games because of COVID-19 issues that don't necessarily involve active infections.
As Kyle Boone wrote, organizers for this Saturday's CBS Sports Classic held in Cleveland announced on Wednesday that the schedule for the four-team event involving the UCLA Bruins, Kentucky Wildcats, Ohio State Buckeyes, and North Carolina Tar Heels has been changed to "more closely align COVID-19 testing protocols between the competing programs and their respective conferences."
North Carolina will take on Kentucky in the first game at 2 p.m. ET at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. UCLA will play Ohio State in the second half of the doubleheader.
Originally, Kentucky-UCLA was supposed to be the opener, followed by Ohio State-UNC.
UCLA was set to meet Long Beach State for a rescheduled contest on Tuesday evening, but that clash was called off due to COVID-19 issues impacting LBSU. The Bruins head to Cleveland with a 5-1 record.
The No. 22-ranked Tar Heels are 4-2. Ohio State, ranked No. 20 in the nation, is a perfect 5-0 but faces the Purdue Boilermakers (4-2) in Big Ten action on Wednesday. Kentucky shockingly lost four of its first five games to begin the season.
