Cincinnati Announces The Basketball Tournament Alumni Team

CINCINNATI — The Basketball Tournament is returning this summer and a UC team is in the field. The "Nasty Nati" roster was finalized and accepted into the tournament this week.

The team is comprised of: Shaq Thomas (2012-16), Troy Caupain (2013-17), Octavius Ellis (2014-16), Coreontae DeBerry (2014-16), Jacob Evans (2015-18), Trevon Scott (2016-20), and Jarron Cumberland (2016-20).

The seven-man team was put together by general manager Kevin Johnson. The 2017 UC graduate played at the school for four seasons and is now a part of the TV broadcast team on ESPN+.

The 64-team tournament airs on ESPN and begins the regional section on June 18. Cincinnati is playing all three possible games at the Cintas Center, so local fans can come watch some of their favorite UC players from last decade play together again. And who wouldn't want to see alumni from the Xavier "Zip 'Em Up" team battle "Nasty Nati."

To make the final bracket, "Nasty Nati" must win three games at Cintas Center. The other six teams in the region are being revealed in June as all parties get set for the first game to tip off in Norwood on Monday, July 18 at 1 p.m. ET.
