Duke Blue Devils standout forward Cooper Flagg is viewed as the clear-cut favorite to be the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming 2025 NBA draft. Regardless of who wins the upcoming draft lottery, Flagg seems to be the obvious pick barring a major change.

Flagg entered the 2024-25 college basketball season already being hyped up as the No. 1 pick in 2025. He did not disappoint despite facing an enormous amount of hype.

Throughout the course of his lone season at Duke, Flagg played in 37 games. He averaged 19.2 points per game to go along with 7.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.4 blocks, and 1.4 steals, while also shooting 48.1% from the floor and 38.5% from the 3-point arc.

Standing in at 6-foot-9 and 205 pounds, plenty of NBA analysts have made comparisons for Flagg. However, a new comparison is turning a lot of heads.

CBS Sports analyst Steve Lappas brought up Larry Bird when talking about Flagg.

"I say he's an athletic Larry Bird. He's much more athletic than Larry Bird is, but he's got that kind of skill," he said. "I'm not saying he's gonna be Larry Bird, but you know what, he's got a chance."

Bird is one of the best players to ever grace a basketball court. Being compared to that kind of a legend shows just how good Flagg could become.

Entering the NBA during the 2025-26 season, Flagg will be facing major hype again. He will be expected to come in and look the part of a star right off the bat.

At this point in time, the teams with the best chance to land Flagg in the 2025 draft are the Utah Jazz (14%), Washington Wizards (14%), Charlotte Hornets (14%), New Orleans Pelicans (12.5%), and Philadelphia 76ers (10.5%).
