Cooper Flagg's GPA At Duke Surfaces After Historic Showing

Duke forward Cooper Flagg is already viewed as the next generational prospect in the basketball world.

The true freshman who reclassified to 2024 and burst onto the scene while playing with the 2024 USA Select Team against the USA Men's National Team head of the 2024 Paris Olympics, has been a dominant force in college basketball. Through 18 games, Flagg is averaging 19.2 points, 8.1 rebounds and 4.1 assists on 48.8% shooting from the field and 34.8% shooting from deep. He also is leading the team in the five major statistical categories.

Despite ESPN viewing him as the No. 1 NBA prospect in this NBA draft class, and him being about as much of a lock as there is to be a one-and-done prospect, Flagg is still thriving in the classroom.

As revealed earlier a few days ago by the program on Instagram, Flagg is one of two players to have posted a 4.0 GPA in the fall semester.

He was joined by fellow five-star Khaman Maluach, who is also viewed as having lottery-pick potential.

The rest of the team did quite well for themselves as well, as the team posted a 3.30 GPA, and had 12 players overall with a GPA of 3.10 or higher. This is an accomplishment that should not be taken lightly, considering just how much these athletes have to balance.

While Flagg's academic excellence is impressive, one of his recent outings might be even more jaw-dropping. On Jan. 11, he dropped 42 points in a win over Notre Dame, setting a Duke and ACC freshman record for most points in a single game. He followed up that scoring outburst with two stellar games that saw him average 20.5 points, five assists and six rebounds.

In a recent NCAA Bracketology breakdown, ESPN's Joe Lunardi had Duke as one of the No. 1 seeds, which is a testament to just how good this team is despite being led by freshmen. Only time will tell how Flagg's career at Duke ends, but fans should expect quite a few honors and wins for the Maine product.

The No. 2 Blue Devils (16-2) will take the floor on Saturday for an ACC matchup with Wake Forest (15-4) in a game that will tip off at 4:30 ET and air on ESPN.
