The official NBA Combine measurements for likely No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg were released Monday, but they sparked some confusion over how they compare to his previous metrics.
ESPN draft expert Jonathan Givony reported that Flagg measured 6’7″ and three-quarters while barefoot, while weighing in at 221 pounds. According to Givony, this means Flagg grew nearly an inch over the last year, and added 12 pounds during his time at Duke.
Duke’s Cooper Flagg’s official measurements from the NBA Draft Combine:

However, this sparked some confusion. Flagg’s official Duke bio lists him at 6’9″ and 225 pounds. Relative to those figures, Flagg is actually shorter and lighter than previously reported.
So what is the truth? The NBA Combine measurements are likely the ones to go by. The height and weight figures in official bios are not always accurate. That is not exactly a secret, as Kevin Durant has said in the past. As such, Duke likely listed Flagg as being a bit taller and heavier than he really was.
The phenomenon is not exclusive to the NBA. One NFL Draft prospect had notable discrepancies in his measurements despite multiple ones being taken just weeks apart from each other.
Flagg’s measurements are unlikely to have any bearing on his draft status. He is almost certain to go No. 1 overall, and will learn his destination on Monday during the draft lottery. An inch or two on his height is not actually going to have any meaningful impact on what NBA teams think of him.
