Cormac Ryan to Visit North Carolina
John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

The North Carolina Tar Heels have landed two players from the transfer portal and could potentially land a few more soon. The latest name to emerge from the rumor mill is Notre Dame guard Cormac Ryan.

Ryan entered the transfer portal on March 24 and has also declared for the NBA Draft. He will have until May 31 to make a decision on college or to withdraw from the NBA Draft.

Ryan is a 6-foot-5 guard that averaged 12.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists for the Irish last season. He shot 40.9 percent from the field but Coach Hubert Davis is likely most interested in his 34.4 percent from the three-point line.

The Tar Heels are still looking to replace the number of players that left the team after a disappointing 2022-2023 season. So far they have added Paxson Wojcik and former Louisville forward Jae’Lyn Withers. Davis and his staff still have four spots available and have seen some of the big targets announce they are committing to other programs.

Ryan could add a seasoned ACC guard with the ability to stretch the floor and knock down three-point shots. If he did commit to the Tar Heels, they would be the third stop in his collegiate career. He originally committed to Stanford before transferring to Notre Dame.

Ryan is scheduled to visit Chapel Hill on Tuesday, April 18.
