The Creighton basketball team hosts defending national champion UConn on Tuesday in Omaha. The matchup will pit a pair of Big East foes against one another as they battle for positioning in the league standings.

Chaos unfolded the last time these two rivals met in Nebraska. Huskies head coach Dan Hurley tried to fight the fanbase!

Creighton won that matchup in blowout fashion, 85-66. It was the worst loss of the season for UConn, who won their next 13 contests on their way to a second straight title.

Hurley was visibly frustrated following that defeat. After taking the beating from the Blue Jays on the court, he had to fend off verbal attacks from the Creighton fanbase as he exited to the locker room. Tensions boiled over.

Dan Hurley threatened to fight crowd members his last time in the arena. The home team is doing little to avoid a repeat situation. Instead, they’re promoting chaos with a $1 beer promotion in UConn’s return.

Creighton fans will be loud and proud when welcoming the Huskies to the venue. The cheap beer will help. The Blue Jays were combative the last time around, and Dan Hurley took the bait.

He’s been unable to control his emotions on the floor this season. The coach has been seen on multiple occasions berating officials during losses. His patience could be tested again on Tuesday in Omaha.

Interestingly enough, this is Creighton’s way of returning the favor after the Huskies pulled out a similar promotion when facing the Blue Jays last year. UConn students drank the concessions dry in that instance, forcing the $2 beer offer to end before the opening tip.

The atmosphere will be hostile when UConn steps onto the court. Dan Hurley hopes to quiet the crowd and force fans to drink that cheap beer in silence.
