On Monday, Pitt guard Damian Dunn underwent surgery on his thumb after dislocating it in Pitt’s game against Wisconsin.

“Pitt guard Damian Dunn underwent surgery to repair a right thumb injury Monday afternoon,” Pitt said in a press release. “Dunn suffered the injury, as well as a left ankle sprain, in the opening minutes of the Greenbrier Tip-Off title game against No. 19 Wisconsin Sunday evening and is expected to miss at least six weeks of action for the Panthers.”

Just two minutes into Pitt’s game against Wisconsin on Sunday, Dunn jumped up in the air and found Jaland Lowe across the court with a pass. On his way down, Dunn turned his left ankle, spraining it. In addition, Dunn dislocated his thumb during the play.

After staying down for a bit, Dunn was helped to his feet by Pitt’s training staff. He left the game and did not return.

Eventually, Dunn made his way back to the Pitt bench with some sort of tape/wrap on his right hand. He did not put any weight on his left leg. Check out video of this below.

Dunn was averaging 13 points per game for Pitt this year before Sunday night’s game and was a key piece to the Panthers’ 6-0 start to the year. He has started each game for Pitt so far in the regular season.

Dunn came to Pittsburgh after a lengthy career at Temple followed by a one-season stint at Houston.

Dunn is a 6-foot-5 guard who averaged 6.4 points per game last season for the Cougars, shooting 36% from the field and 32% from three-point range. Prior to last season at Houston, he spent four years at Temple, averaging at least 13 points per game in each of his three seasons of action. In his final season with the Owls, Dunn started 20 games and averaged a career-best 15.3 points per game. He hit a career-high 48 three pointers that year, shooting 35% from downtown.

“Damian is an experienced guard with the ability to really score the ball,” Pitt head coach Jeff Capel said upon his signing at Pitt. “He is highly competitive with a big frame to get to his spots on offense as well as guard multiple positions on the other end of the floor. We targeted him early in the transfer process and are excited to have him join our program. I really like how our backcourt is coming together with the return of Ish and Jaland as well as the additions of Damian and Brandin [Cummings].”

Dunn is a Kinston, North Carolina native.

Chicago Blackhawks at Risk of Losing First Round Pick as Other Teams Pitch Big-Money Offers

Mason West is a talented prospect of the future for the Chicago Blackhawks, but it appears he may look to leave hockey for big opportunities in football. The Chicago Blackhawks landed Anton Frondell with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 NHL Draft, but it was perhaps their second first-round pick that drew the most intrigue, as they drafted centre Mason West out of the USHL. That pick was intriguing for many reasons, with the 6-foot-6 centre having potential with his talent and his physicality, but now, the team may be in danger of losing the talented 17-year old. According to a report from The Athletic, the No. 29 overall pick has been drawing interest from several NCAA programs to join their team as a football player. Standing at 6-foot-6, the Minnesota native is a star in both hockey and football, tallying 49 points in 31 games at the high school level while also being a star Quarterback, and after putting up 9 points in 10 USHL games with the Fargo Force, the future is bright for him in both sports. Ultimately, at 17-years of age, the future is very bright whichever way West ends up going, but given that the Blackhawks used a first-round pick on him in this past seasons draft, they're clearly confident that they can not only keep him in hockey, but make a good NHLer out of him moving forward.

'Wilt Chamberlain Punched Me And Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Ignored Me': NBA Veteran On First Meeting With Lakers Legends

Wilt Chamberlain and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar are two centers who have etched their names in NBA history books for their successes, most prominently with the Lakers. They both won their first championships with another team, but their second rings were both in a Lakers uniform. Wilt Chamberlain had an extroverted and extravagant lifestyle, while Kareem Abdul-Jabbar always valued his privacy and was very selective about his interactions with others. Recently, in an interview on the Rich Eisen Show, the four-time NBA champion John Salley recalled his first meetings with the two NBA legends. “I met Wilt Chamberlain, who hit me in my stomach. Wilt had this thing. He was like, 'Take a picture.' If you’re standing there, I was told, do not loosen up around Wilt; he will try you somehow." “And so, I'm sitting there, and then it hit me in my stomach. He was, ‘Oh, you got a good core.’ And I was like, Oh, yeah,” said Salley while imitating the voice and expression of a man in excruciating pain. After discussing that Wilt Chamberlain was only two or three inches taller than Salley, he goes on to describe his first meeting with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. He explains how, even as a celebrity, he would feel starstruck while meeting celebrities bigger than him. “People don't realize when you're a pro, a lot of guys go around and act cool. Man, I would let you know. Man, you Wilt Chamberlain, oh my boy! I saw Kareem, and Kareem didn't talk to me.” “He had nothing to say. He talked to my brother Ron, but he goes like ‘I don't talk to rookies.’” Salley was not very surprised to get this response from Abdul-Jabbar, as his reputation was that he liked to keep to himself. Wilt Chamberlain and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar walked so players like LeBron James and John Salley himself could run, in terms of player empowerment. They were among the first players in the league to request a trade themselves to play in bigger market teams (coincidentally, both landed in the Lakers during different eras). John Salley eventually became the first NBA player to win a championship with three different NBA teams (Pistons, Bulls, and Lakers). Unfortunately, Wilt Chamberlain and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar were never teammates on the Lakers. Their playing time only overlapped for four years (1969-1973), where they played as rivals against each other before Chamberlain eventually retired, just two years before Abdul-Jabbar eventually joined the Lakers. Even if Chamberlain technically punched him and Abdul-Jabbar ignored him, Salley got a memory of a lifetime when he met these two legends.

Insider Report Ties Yankees to Pirates Pitchers in Final Hours Before Deadline

With less than 48 hours to go until the 2025 MLB trade deadline, the New York Yankees are still flirting with the Pittsburgh Pirates over some pitching. According to insider Jon Heyman of the New York Post, the Yankees and Pirates are still discussing reliever David Bednar and starter Mitch Keller on Tuesday night. But while there’s interest in both arms, the Yankees might not like the price. “Bednar is a target. Keller interests them, too, but the price tag might discourage them,” Heyman reported Tuesday. That lines up with what we’ve seen from the Yankees so far this month. They’ve been aggressive in scouting relievers but cautious about overpaying, especially for pitchers under long-term control. Bednar, who has a 4.19 ERA and 16 saves in 2025, would fill a pressing need for a club that ranks near the bottom of the league in bullpen ERA for July. His late-inning experience and high ground-ball rate make him a logical fit. Keller, meanwhile, would be a luxury at this point, especially after Luis Gil’s impending return. The right-hander is having a bounce-back year for the Pirates, with a 3.56 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, and a team-leading 121 strikeouts in 125 innings. But he’s under team control through 2028, and Pittsburgh doesn’t appear eager to move him unless blown away. That’s likely where the Yankees’ caution kicks in. The team has shown a willingness to deal mid-tier prospects but has reportedly been hesitant to part with top-end talent like Cam Schlittler or Spencer Jones, especially for non-rental pieces. Still, the fact that conversations have occurred shows that even in the wake of Aaron Judge’s injury news, the Yankees remain active on both the bullpen and rotation fronts. The Yankees front office is casting a wide net. With time running out, names like Bednar and Keller remain firmly in the mix.

New Report on Warriors-Kings Trade That Would Swap Jonathan Kuminga, DeMar DeRozan

Jonathan Kuminga has remained a free agent this offseason. There's no telling how his situation will resolve itself with the Golden State Warriors, but ClutchPoints' Brett Siegel has confirmed that the Sacramento Kings are among his interested suitors. It's unclear if the Warriors want to keep Kuminga around, but it's also clear that if he wants to join another team, they wouldn't want to lose him for nothing. One way the Warriors and Kings could resolve the Kuminga situation is by agreeing to a sign-and-trade that would swap Kuminga for players on the Kings roster. It would depend on who the Warriors would want in return for Kuminga. The Kings have some players to offer in exchange for the wing, like DeMar DeRozan or Devin Carter, so getting them would be something for Kuminga. However, even if the Warriors could entertain a sign-and-trade for the young wing, they're not interested in those two Kings. More than that, Sacramento may want Kuminga but only at a fair price. Sam Amick revealed the details during his appearance on Warriors Plus/Minus. "My understanding is the Warriors weren't interested in Carter or DeRozan," Amick said, which was aggregated by 95.7 The Game's Evan Giddings. "As of a couple weeks ago, the Kings weren't willing to pay Kuminga into the $20 million range (per year)." DeRozan is a six-time All-Star who will enter the second year of a three-year, $78.9 million contract. The Warriors are not above either of the NBA's tax aprons at the moment, while the Kings are hard-capped at the first apron.
