Dan Hurley's UConn Huskies won the men's NCAA championship in 2023 and 2024, and they got back to work this past season looking to elevate themselves into rarified air by winning a third straight national title.

Instead, the Huskies suffered a gut-wrenching 77-75 loss in the second round of the NCAA Tournament to Florida, the eventual national champion, after they forged a lead early in the second half.

Florida Atlantic big man Baba Miller entered the transfer portal on Tuesday just before the deadline, and UConn is one of several programs that have reportedly shown interest in him.

Miller, a 6-foot-11, 215-pound forward who just completed his junior season in college basketball, averaged 11.3 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.7 blocked shots a game this past season. He transferred to FAU from Florida State, where he spent the first two years of his college career.

His playing time was limited during his time at Florida State. But he got 30.0 minutes a game and started in all 34 of his games during the 2024-25 campaign. He also improved his outside shooting by knocking down 34.2 percent of his 3-point attempts, compared to 29.3 percent the previous season.

Hurley's Huskies already made a sizable gain on the transfer portal when Malachi Smith, a guard who played for Dayton in each of the last four seasons, committed to joining them for next season. Smith averaged 10.4 points and 5.3 assists a game while shooting 38.3 percent from 3-point range this past season.
