Former USC basketball star and current Chicago Bull DeMar DeRozan took a visit to the Trojans during the NBA All-Star break. One thing that he discussed with the team is the importance of mental health, and one USC player that he was able to have an impact on was Boogie Ellis.

Boogie Ellis recently discussed the importance of mental health and he opened up about the hard times that he has faced since joining the USC basketball team. Athletes sharing their experiences shows that everyone has ups and downs, and it helps break the stigma around mental health.

“I had no adversity until I came to college,” Boogie Ellis said, according to a tweet from USC basketball. “I was at Memphis, I was away from my family. I did go through a time where I went through depression, not wanting to play basketball, not wanting to do anything. When I got to USC is when I finally got help.”

The All-Star break is now over, and DeMar DeRozan is back in Chicago and playing with the Bulls. USC a big game coming up this weekend to focus on as well as they will take on UCLA on Saturday.

That had to be a cool experience for the Trojans to have DeRozan come visit the team. He is a good USC alum.
