Below NC State's Kevin Keatts and Wake Forest's Steve Forbes sits Duke basketball head coach Jon Scheyer and his primary Tobacco Road rival in UNC's Hubert Davis. That's not a typo. No, absurd to many yet logical to others, that's how the four faces of present-day ACC hoops in North Carolina stack up on College Basketball Report's recently posted "Top 50 Head Coaches in College Basketball Heading Into 2024-25."

Keatts appears at No. 29, then Forbes at No. 34, Scheyer at No. 35, and Davis at No. 36.
Presumably, the argument is Keatts owns bragging rights in terms of most recent success, boasting a combined 3-0 record against Scheyer and Davis this past March en route to the Wolfpack's first ACC Tournament title and Final Four appearance since Ronald Reagan's presidency.

Meanwhile, Forbes has been a head coach longer than Scheyer and Davis put together. So, perhaps that alone gives him the slight edge over both in the eyes of College Basketball Report, despite the fact he hasn't reached the NCAA Tournament across four years in the ACC since leaving East Tennessee State, not to mention he still doesn't have an overall winning record in ACC play.
As for the head-to-head comparison between Scheyer, gearing up for his third season at the helm since succeeding Duke basketball legend Mike Krzyzewski, and Davis, in his fourth year since Tar Heel treasure Roy Williams' retirement, it seems College Basketball Report views them essentially as equals despite contrasting paths to their results thus far.
In terms of highlight accomplishments, Hubert Davis has the advantage. He reached a Final Four before ending Coach K's career, won an ACC regular season, and earned a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Jon Scheyer has reached an Elite Eight and won an ACC Tournament.
On the recruiting trail, Scheyer has yet to meet his match, as he's already reeled in two No. 1 classes, including the one on tap for next season. And his back-to-back 27-9 campaigns to begin his career point to a win in the consistency department over Davis, whose 2022-23 squad failed to earn an invite to the Big Dance.

Packers HC bothered by rookie's 'unacceptable' behavior during preseason game
Green Bay Packers right tackle Anthony Belton had a forgettable first half against the Indianapolis Colts on Saturday when he committed five penalties in the first half. The rookie was called for a false start, two illegal formation penalties, a face mask and unnecessary roughness. Packers head coach Matt LaFleur was peeved by the unnecessary roughness penalty, which the second-round pick was called for when he pushed Colts cornerback Johnathan Edwards from behind after the play. Per Matt Schneidman of The Athletic, LaFleur "let Belton have it" at halftime. Following the game, LaFleur explained to the media why that behavior bothers him — it hurts the team. “That’s the one that really bothers me because that is — I mean, they all bother me — but you can’t be getting personal fouls because that really hurts the team, puts you in a really tough position,” LaFleur said. “That is completely unacceptable in my mind. I appreciate the effort that he plays with and I thought he did a really nice job … I love the effort. It’s just, you got to be smart in those situations.” Belton's penalties were costly for the Packers. One of the illegal formation flags took away what would have been a touchdown pass from quarterback Taylor Elgersma to tight end Ben Sims. The 15-yard penalty on the unnecessary roughness call turned a manageable 3rd-and-5 into a 3rd-and-20. Saturday's preseason game is a learning experience for the 2023 third-team All-ACC offensive lineman. The Packers can't have Belton on the field if he's going to commit that many penalties, and the unnecessary roughness mistake would have been easy to avoid.
Milwaukee Brewers: Craig Counsell Blasts Former Team’s 14-Game Winning Streak, Gets Caught Lying
The Milwaukee Brewers saw their 14-game win streak, the longest in franchise history, come to an end on Sunday afternoon in an extra innings loss to the Cincinnati Reds. Milwaukee’s bats, which had been red hot for weeks, suddenly cooled and the taxed bullpen could not close out the game, which the Brewers led in the ninth inning. Now, Milwaukee will look to start a new win streak as they head to Chicago for a five-game series, which will be played in a four-day span, against the Cubs. Of course, the Brewers and Cubs have one of the most intriguing rivalries in the game as Chicago’s manager, Craig Counsell, is the winningest skipper in Milwaukee’s franchise history. But, after the 2022 season, Counsell ditched the Brewers, the team his father worked for and he himself played for Milwaukee for a good portion of his career in order to take the Cubs’ job away from David Ross, who was still the team’s manager when they decided to hire their former rival. Earlier this season, Chicago led Milwaukee in the standings by as many as 6.5 games, but now, thanks to the Brewers’ long run of stellar play, are eight games behind the Brewers in the standings. Chicago Cubs Manager Craig Counsell Doesn’t Think the Milwaukee Brewers Are Doing Anything Great Counsell, who still resides in Whitefish Bay on Milwaukee’s north side, is not much loved anymore by Brewers fans, and he has done little to save face in their eyes with comments he has made about the team since joining their I-94 rivals. He added more fuel to the fire in a recent interview with the Chicago Sun Times, Counsell was asked about his thoughts on the Brewers’ winning streak. “What’s so great about it?” he responded. “They’re playing good. I mean, they’re playing great. They haven’t lost since we played them.” And then, to the bewilderment of many, Counsell claimed that, despite being a Milwaukee native, he had “never seen” a George Webb’s” restaurant. Former Milwaukee Brewers Manager Craig Counsell Flat Out Lied Aside from saying that Milwaukee’s 14-game winning streak was not that great, Counsell flat-out lied about his knowledge of George Webb’s. As fans may recall, he himself was the manager of the Brewers the last time they won 12 games in a row, the needed amount of consecutive wins for fans to be able to claim a free hamburger at the local chain. Local fans and reporters quickly unearthed a story from 2018, the year the Brewers won 12 consecutive games (eight at the end of the regular season and their first four postseason games) in which Counsell talks about the giveaway: “I remember the concept of free hamburgers going back so long, it’s hard to believe that it’s never happened since then.” At this point, it is not hard to determine why Counsell said what he said on Sunday. He is just stoking the fires of what is sure to be a hard-fought five-game series in Chicago.
Cowboys' Tyler Booker Reacts To 'Dream Come True' Debut
Dallas Cowboys first-round pick Tyler Booker finally had his NFL debut in the second preseason game, in the 31-13 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. And yeah, he was as advertised. Booker looked at home in the NFL, and yes, we get it, it's preseason, but we saw all that we needed to, and given the fact that Dallas had its best running plays behind the right side of the offensive line, ittells you all you need to know. But how was getting on the grass in a real NFL game? “Great,” Booker said. "It's really a dream come true. I was glad to be out there with my teammates. Glad to see some live action, and I'm very excited to watch the film. Just going out there having any debut was really a dream come true. Being able to play with my teammates and some live action. It was definitely a great time. Had a great time. Perhaps the best thing was that Booker wasn't just able to be serviceable, he was good. Per PFF, Booker, on 15 pass plays, didn't offer up a single pressure with No. 52 stout against the Ravens pass rush, and also, his push in the run game was something that will no doubt make Schottenheimer and the coaching staff happy. Yes, it was only preseason, but with all the question marks surrounding the Cowboys, one that we don't have is whether Booker will be able to compete at a high level and look good doing it.
Commanders Trade? Washington 'Shopping' Starting Running Back, Per Report
The Washington Commanders will enter the 2025 season with one of the better offenses in football, if Terry McLaurin signs his new deal, which we think he will. But the front office doesn't appear to be too content with the running back room, and given that none are under contract beyond 2025, it makes this season hugely important for a host of backs. One is Brian Robinson, who has been a consistent presence in the Commanders' backfield for the past three years, posting over 700 rushing yards in each season. However, it appears Washington is ready to offload B-Rob. Per Fox Sports' Jordan Schultz, the Commanders are shopping Robinson around to other teams. "Sources: The #Commanders have been shopping RB Brian Robinson Jr. to teams around the NFL," Schultz tweeted. "The former 3rd-round pick out of Alabama is entering the final year of his contract." Schultz then posted, "Washington likes its RB depth, but Robinson is available for the right price." So, there could be a scenario where B-Rob is on his way out of the nation's capital, but given that he is in the final year of his contract, who would be willing to part ways with draft capital for a one-year rental? We don't think too many would; instead, just wait for the 2025 season to play out and get Robinson as a free agent. Either way, there appears to be change happening for the Commanders with the regular season just around the corner, with their best running back potentially not being on the roster come Week 1.
