Monday brought a day of recognition around college basketball, with many conferences announcing their annual awards and honors for the season.

In the ACC, the Duke Blue Devils dominated the day. Star freshman Cooper Flagg claimed the 2025 ACC Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year awards, while also securing spots on the All-ACC First Team, ACC All-Defensive Team, and ACC All-Rookie Team.

Flagg wasn’t the only Blue Devil recognized. Guard Kon Knueppel earned spots on the All-ACC Second Team and All-Rookie Team, while guard Tyrese Proctor was named to the All-ACC Third Team. Center Khaman Maluach also made the All-Rookie Team, and guard Sion James was selected for the All-Defensive Team.

One name Duke felt was snubbed in the awards was head coach Jon Scheyer. He finished second in ACC Coach of the Year voting with 25 votes, while Louisville’s first-year coach, Pat Kelsey, took home the honor with 47 votes.

Following the news, Duke made a special post, unhappy with Scheyer’s snub.

"Haven't seen a coach snubbed for ACC COTY like this since Coach K didn't win it once over his final 22 seasons, which included 3 national titles, 10 ACC Tourney titles, 5 ACC RS titles and 11 30-win seasons," Duke wrote on social media.

Scheyer is in his third season as Duke’s head coach, having posted back-to-back 27-9 records in his first two years. Now, in Year 3, he has led the Blue Devils to a 28-3 mark and has them ranked No. 1 in the AP Poll heading into the ACC Tournament.

The 37-year-old played for the Blue Devils from 2006-10 before returning as an assistant coach in 2014. He later took over as head coach following Mike Krzyzewski’s retirement after the 2022 college basketball season.
