Cooper Flagg and the No. 11 Duke Blue Devils suffered their second loss of the 2024-25 college basketball season as they fell to the No. 1 Kansas Jayhawks 75-72 in the Terry's Chocolate Vegas Showdown on Tuesday night.

Flagg, the No. 1 prospect in the 2024 class out of Monteverde Academy, didn't have his best statistical output of the young season but still showed his potential. The 6-foot-9 freshman recorded 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting, five rebounds and three assists.

According to StatMamba on X, with his performance, Flagg has become the fastest player in Duke's storied history to record 100 or more points, 50 or more rebounds and 20 more assists, doing this in just six games.

For the season, Flagg is averaging 17 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.5 blocks, all of which lead the Blue Devils. In total, the projected No. 1 pick in the 2025 NBA draft has reached 102 points, 50 rebounds and 22 assists.

This achievement by Flagg is made more impressive when you consider that Duke has put out some of the best players college basketball has ever seen. Some of the stars that could not reach these heights include Grant Hill, Zion Williamson, Jayson Tatum, Christian Laettner and JJ Redick, among many others.

Against the Jayhawks, the Blue Devils found themselves down by as many as 13 points but stormed back to tie the game up in the second half. However, even with Kansas center Hunter Dickinson ejected midway through the second half after kicking Maliq Brown in the face, Duke failed to get it done in the closing minutes.

With the loss, the Blue Devils fall to 4-2 on the season, with their only other defeat coming against the Kentucky Wildcats. They will face the Seattle U Redhawks before another tough challenge against the No. 4 Auburn Tigers on Dec 4.

Meanwhile, Kansas remains undefeated, moving to 6-0 and still looking like the top team in the nation.
