Duke Target Makes Interesting Move on Social Media

At some point recently, five-star Duke basketball recruiting target Dylan Harper, son of former five-time NBA champion Ron Harper, pinned pictures from his official visits to Duke and Indiana atop his Instagram page. And he removed pictures from his more recent official visit to presumed frontrunner Rutgers.

His official visit with the Blue Devils was over a year ago, when he attended the program's Countdown to Craziness leading up to the 2022-23 campaign (the first under Jon Scheyer).

Is Harper's latest move on social media meaningful? Or is it just a fun way for him to stir up engagement and generate more chatter about his ongoing recruitment?

Probably the latter.

Even so, the Don Bosco Prep (N.J.) standout guard, a 6-foot-5, 180-pound crafty five-star who ranks No. 2 overall on the 247Sports 2024 Composite, has not publicly eliminated the Blue Devils from contention. The same goes for Rutgers, Indiana, and his other two finalists in Auburn and Kansas.

He named that final five in January. And he hasn't indicated when he'll pick a winner, although he hinted at doing so on his Instagram account several months ago before going silent there for weeks.

Rutgers, where his older brother, Ron Harper Jr., shined for four years before landing in the NBA, remains the favorite in the eyes of the Rivals FutureCast and 247Sports Crystal Ball.

Meanwhile, Scheyer and his gang boast the top-ranked haul in the 2024 cycle. All five Duke basketball prizes, including No. 1 prospect Cooper Flagg and three other five-stars, inked their national letter of intent during the early signing period earlier this month.
