Dusty May has been fun to watch on the recruiting trail and for Michigan basketball fans, he’s been a dream come true. The man eats, sleeps, and breathes basketball.

That’s not hyperbole and it shows. He’s a relentless worker and I have zero doubt that he’ll win with Michigan basketball. He might even live up to the hype of being the next John Beilein.

What he did by landing one of the top classes in the transfer portal was impressive. It put Michigan basketball in a position to make the NCAA tournament next season, even if there is still work to do.

However, the future recruiting classes also need some attention. The board generally resets with a new head coach. May has been working on 2024 recruits and signed two new ones Justin Pippen and Lorenzo Cason.

Michigan basketball eyeing another blue-chip guard

He’s also got Michigan basketball back in the mix for four-star shooting guard Dorian Jones, who is ranked 53rd overall in the 2025 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.

The 6-foot-4 guard is eighth among shooting guards and is out of Columbus, Ohio. He released a top 10 list at one point and Michigan basketball wasn’t on it. But after some work by May, Joe Tipton of On3.com now reports that the Wolverines will host the four-star guard for an official visit on June 4th.

Jones has taken officials to Ohio State, Missouri, and Rutgers. He hasn’t visited any other school in his top 10 and the fact that Michigan basketball is getting a visit tells me the Wolverines are a real threat.

Why wouldn’t you want to play for Dusty May at this point, especially as a guard? He’s why the Wolverines are back in the mix and it’s just been fun as hell to watch him recruit relentlessly.
