Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson signs multiple college athletes to NIL deals

Dwayne Johnson wants you to forget what he’s cooking and focus on what “The Rock’s Warriors” are drinking. The former WWE superstar and current owner of the XFL recently signed seven college athletes to NIL deals to promote his ZOA energy drink.

Johnson’s own collegiate career was fairly uneventful. He spent the better part of four seasons in Miami backing up Hall of Fame defensive lineman Warren Sapp. As ambassadors of Johnson’s brand, these athletes are sure to get more attention.

Angel Reese, LSU Tigers

Known by some as the “Bayou Barbie,” Reese helped lead LSU to its first basketball title in school history this year. She was named the NCAA’s Most Outstanding Player of the tournament and won an ESPY for Breakthrough Athlete of the Year.

Brock Bowers, Georgia

As a tight end for the Georgia Bulldogs, Bowers already had two national championships in his pocket before the Rock came calling. He won the John Mackey Award as the nation’s top tight end in 2022. Some experts believe Bowers could go as high as No. 6 in next year’s draft.

Hansel Enmanuel, Austin Peay

Enmanuel took up basketball as a hobby after losing his left arm when he was six years old. As a three-star recruit with Life Christian Academy, Enmanuel averaged 26 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists per game, with videos of his play going viral on social media. The 19-year-old guard recently transferred to Austin Peay after one year with Northwestern.

Marvin Harrison Jr., Ohio State

Harrison’s 1,263 yards were sixth-most by any receiver and his 15 touchdowns tied for second in the FBS last year. His Hall of Fame father accumulated over 14,000 yards and 128 touchdowns in 13 years as a Colt. Harrison Jr. projects as a top-five pick for the 2024 NFL Draft.

Drake Maye, North Carolina

According to USA Today, the Tar Heels quarterback enters 2023 as the second-best quarterback in college football. Maye had a monster 2022, throwing for a school record 4,321 yards and 38 touchdowns while running for 698 more yards and seven scores.

Amaya gainer, Florida A&M

After transferring from FGCU, Gainer appeared in 43 games with 15 runs and 17 RBI for Florida A&M last season. In addition to her NIL deal with Johnson, Gainer also signed with H&R Block's "Fair Shot," a program that educates women about financial literacy.

Kam Kinchens, Miami

Kinchens is a First-Team All-American safety for Johnson’s alma mater. His six interceptions in 2022 tied for second-most among FBS safeties. He’s college football’s fifth-best safety according to Pro Football Focus and also has an NIL deal with the Life Wallet Sports group.

Each athlete will be promoted in upcoming marketing campaigns with content featured across social media platforms. Johnson currently has 386M followers on Instagram and reportedly gets paid $1M to post. Try to keep up, kids.
