The Florida Gators are riding high after winning their third national championship (first since their back-to-back championships in 2006-2007) against the No. 1 seed Houston Cougars.
Thanks to the heroic performances of Walter Clayton Jr. throughout the NCAA Tournament, Todd Golden and the Gators won a thrilling championship game and cut down the nets in San Antonio.
Clayton now more than likely is heading to the NBA, as he is a projected first round pick after his unbelievable tournament run.
Looking ahead to next season, the Gators are one in the running for one of the most coveted guards in the country, AJ Brown from the Ohio Bobcats.
Brown is the older brother of current Florida guard Isaiah Brown, who had limited minutes in his freshman season with the Gators.
An injury in his second year gave him an extra year of eligibility, and will enter this year as a junior. The former MAC All-Freshman Team selection bounced back from the injury by averaging 13.2 points per game on 47.1% shooting.
He now enters the portal as a very popular name to keep an eye on. With a do not contact tag in place as he entered the portal, no teams can reach out to him until him or his agent does.
For Florida, they would love to bring him in as an offensive weapon to replace some of Clayton's scoring ability.
They currently have the ninth best recruiting class in the country according to On3 Sports, consisting of two four-stars. The potential of adding Brown would make this class one of the top teams in the country, as they look to complete their second back-to-back national championship run.
