Florida’s Todd Golden Receives Major Roster Update After National Championship

After going 30-4 in the regular season, second place in an SEC that many analysts deemed its toughest ever, the 2024-25 Florida Gators entered March Madness as the No. 1 seed in the West Region.

Florida dispatched Norfolk State, two-time defending champion UConn, Maryland and Texas Tech before outlasting Auburn in the Final Four.

In the national championship game, the Gators erased a 12-point second-half deficit to edge Houston, 65-63.

One player who played a big role in that historic run was sophomore forward Alex Condon.

On Tuesday, Todd Golden's Gators received massive news that Condon would withdraw from the 2025 NBA Draft and return to Florida for his junior season, per Joe Tipton of On3

Hailing from Perth, Western Australia, Condon arrived at Florida following two seasons with the Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence (CoE) and quickly made an impact.

As a 6-foot-11 freshman in 2023-24, he averaged 7.7 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game en route to SEC All-Freshman Team honors.

He stepped into a full-time starting role in his sophomore year and posted career highs of 10.6 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.3 blocks over 37 games (35 starts) while shooting 49.3% from the field and 32.8% from beyond the arc, earning Third-Team All-SEC honors.

In the title game, Condon contributed 12 points, seven rebounds and four steals.

Heading into the April NBA Draft Combine in Chicago, he held a late-first/second-round projection on most big-board lists.

Yet he resisted the lure of going pro, choosing instead to hone his skills under Golden and rejoin a championship culture he helped build.
