Colby Brooks, a former walk-on who appeared in 22 games with Gonzaga from 2022-2024, announced on Twitter Friday afternoon he is entering the transfer portal after spending last season at San Diego.
Brooks was a talented high school player in the Los Angeles area who came to Gonzaga as a walk-on in 2021. After redshirting his first season, Brooks appeared in eight games in 2022-23, scoring 21 points on 8-11 shooting in 23 total minutes, all in garbage time.
He had a similar role in 2023-24, appearing in 14 games and scoring 14 points in 42 minutes, along with 17 rebounds.
Brooks graduated after that season and opted to enter the transfer portal as a grad student with two years of eligibility remaining, and after a long wait he ultimately stayed in the WCC by committing to Steve Lavin and the San Diego Toreros.

Brooks was far more utilized at USD than he was at Gonzaga, appearing in 23 games and even making two starts, while playing 6.7 minutes per night. The 6'7 left-hander finished averaging 2.7 points and 2.0 rebounds with the Toreros, shooting 43.8% on twos and 33.3% (1-3) from three.
He had a career-high 10 points in a non-conference loss at Fresno State, and put up eight points and four rebounds on the road against San Francisco in late January.
His first career start came against his old team in Gonzaga on Jan. 8, where he put up four points, three rebounds, and two steals in 14 minutes.
Now Brooks will hunt for another home for his final year of eligibility.
