Former Kentucky standout could win conference Player of the Year in the PAC-12

We have seen a trend developing where former Kentucky Wildcats leave the program and hit the transfer portal to find great success at other programs. Not every basketball player who comes to Lexington has immediate success playing for John Calipari, but most of them were highly ranked recruits. 

With Calipari bringing in a ton of talent every year via the recruiting process and transfer portal, these players make the decision to move on and, in some cases, help their careers. 

That is the case for former Kentucky standout Keion Brooks Jr., who has been an absolute star for the Washington Huskies. 

Brooks Jr. averages 20.6 points per game, which is second in the conference by 0.1. He is also sixth in the Pac-12 in rebounds per game, pulling in 7.2 a contest. 

The forward is shooting 43.1% from three so far this season for the Huskies, which is the best percentage of his career. 

If Brooks Jr. continues to play the way he has through the Huskies first 16 games of the season the rest of the way he could win Pac-12 Player of the Year. 

His competition is Jaylon Tyson of Cal, who is averaging 20.7 points per game for the Golden Bears. 

The former Wildcat is putting up career numbers for the Huskies and could bring home some hardware if he keeps it up.
