Former McDonald's All-American Jaden Bradley is leaving Alabama

Former five-star recruit Jaden Bradley is leaving the Alabama Crimson Tide after only one season.

Bradley came into the program bursting with potential as a McDonald's All-American and undisputedly one of the best players in his draft class. A point guard originally from Concord, North Carolina, Bradley went to the vaunted IMG Academy for high school and committed to the Crimson Tide over Arizona, Gonzaga, Florida State and Kentucky. He was a big recruiting haul for head coach Nate Oats, and it was the head coach's relationship with Bradley that originally won Alabama the elite recruit's commitment.

“I just feel like me and Coach built a great relationship,” Bradley had said of Oats, per 247Sports. “Just seeing the progress he’s made with the program, putting his players to the next level, his point guards he’s had recently, and what he has now...it’s something I wanted to be a part of.”

Bradley never quite lived up to the superstar expectations of being a five-star recruit, but he did have a solid season. He appeared in all 37 games for Alabama, starting 22 of those contests. He was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team after averaging 6.4 points, 3.1 assists and 2.6 rebounds per game, but he did lose his starting job to Jahvon Quinerly heading into the SEC and NCAA tournaments, so his freshman campaign ended on a rather underwhelming note.

He played just five minutes in Alabama's Sweet 16 loss to San Diego State and he averaged just 1.3 points in both the SEC and NCAA Tournaments.

Bradley was ranked as the No. 3 point guard recruit in the 2022 class as well as a Top 30 recruit nationally, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
