Former Pitt Standout Jamarius Burton Signs with Belgian Pro Team Kortrijk Spurs

On Sunday, another former Pitt basketball player made his future plans official in the professional ranks.

Jamarius Burton signed with the pro squad Kortrijk Spurs, a Belgian team that went 24-5 last season and won the Belgian Top Division 1 championship. The Spurs compete in the BNXT League.

The 6-foot-4 guard earned First Team All-ACC honors as a graduate senior at Pitt this past season, leading the Panthers to their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2016. He scored a career-high 15.2 points per game while also averaging 4.8 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game. The Urbana-Champaign, Illinois native began his college career with two seasons at Wichita State, followed by one year with Texas Tech and two more in Pittsburgh. In his two-year Pitt career, Burton scored 891 points and shot 48% from the field.

Burton hit perhaps the biggest shot of Pitt’s season in the First Four game against Mississippi State, draining a mid-range jumper to gain the lead late against the Bulldogs. He went on to score 11 points against Iowa State in the Round of 64, and 16 points against Xavier in the Round of 32.
