A big name from Western Pennsylvania has hit the transfer portal.

On Thursday afternoon, Kentucky sophomore Adou Thiero entered the portal after spending the last two seasons with Kentucky. Thiero, now standing at 6-foot-8, 222 pounds, played for Quaker Valley in the WPIAL in high school. The Leetsdale, Pennsylvania native shined in a bigger role for John Calipari’s Wildcats this year, averaging 7.2 points and five rebounds per game while shooting 49% from the field and hitting 7 of his 22 three-point tries.

Thiero scored 181 points and grabbed 124 rebounds this year for the Wildcats.

His best game of the year came against No. 1 Kansas in the beginning of the season. Thiero shined for the Wildcats, scoring 16 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. He scored in double figures four more times throughout the season for Kentucky. However, in Kentucky’s NCAA Tournament loss to Oakland in Pittsburgh, Thiero played just seven minutes, going 1 for 3 from the field for two points.

Jeff Capel offered Thiero back in March of 2022, during his senior season. Thiero entered the year with minimal division one interest, but as he continued to grow and improve on the basketball court, his recruitment exploded. He visited Pitt on April 18, 2022.
