Four-star combo guard Taison Chatman commits to Ohio State hoops

Taison Chatman is one of the top 2023 recruits in the high school basketball world. As such, he has decided to commit to one of the better programs nationally and certainly one of the elite basketball schools in the Big Ten: Ohio State.

Chatman, a 6-foot-4, 170-pound combo guard out of Minneapolis, Minnesota (Totino-Grace High School), is ranked as the No. 8 combo guard and No. 31 overall recruit in the nation, according to 247Sports. He's also the top recruit from Minnesota, a state that has produced the likes of Jalen Suggs, Chet Holmgren, Tyus Jones and Tre Jones (and who could forget Kevin McHale?).

"I chose Ohio State because of a big part of it was my relationship with the coaching staff," Chatman told Bucknuts. "When I went on a visit, it felt like home and I bonded with the players and coaching staff."

The four-star recruit said that Ohio State's fan base was another reason he wanted to be a Buckeye.

"Like I said, it was the coaching staff but also how much the fans care about Ohio State athletics in general so that was big for me knowing that I have a big support system behind me while I am out there," he said.

Notably, Chatman committed to Ohio State over Xavier, Kansas and UConn.
