FORT WORTH, Texas. — Former Arizona State basketball standout Frankie Collins is visiting a future conference opponent this weekend. Collins entered the portal on March 26 and immediately had a long list of suitors. Since entering the portal he’s cut his list down to six schools, including the option to return to ASU.

The six schools that Collins is considering are Arizona State, TCU, Florida, San Diego State, SMU, and California. Collins will be visiting one of those schools this weekend.

Frankie Collins visiting TCU this weekend

Collins is conducting a visit to TCU this weekend, first reported by Jon Rothstein. The Sacramento native already conducted an in-home visit with the Horned Frogs as well.

Last season for the Sun Devils Collins was arguably their most valuable player. He averaged 13.8 points per game, 3.2 assists per game, and 4.4 rebounds per game. Collins was menacing on the defensive end as well, averaging 2.7 steals per game. He also broke ASU’s all time single season steals record previously held by Lafayette (Fat) Lever. Lever held the record for over 40 years with 76 steals in a single season. Collins cleared that this past season with 84 steals.

Collins earned All Conference Honorable Mention honors this past season as a junior, and was named to the Pac-12 All Defensive Team. The scrappy point guard finished No. 17 in the Pac-12 in points per game.

Arizona State is still strongly in the mix to bring Collins back, but it seems like TCU has emerged as a very strong contender in his recruitment. If Collins were to play for TCU next season, he would meet ASU again as both teams will be in the Big 12 next season.
